About The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games takes place in a future society, originally where the countries of North America once was, named Panem, in which 12 districts all come together in the annual event, "The Hunger Games", which is a televised game that takes two people, a boy and a girl, from each district, from the ages of 12 to 18, to fight to the death in an arena in which only one person comes out alive, resulting in becoming a victor, and then a mentor and help teach to future tributes, who are people chosen to be in the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is revolved around the Capitol, which is the highest class out of the districts, and in the Capitol they do not get people chosen to be in the Hunger Games. They only watch it as a form of entertainment, and they root for their favorite tributes. The Hunger Games was made as a reminder of the terrible war that passed when the districts tried to rebel against the Capitol, which resulted in the 13th district being destroyed.

The story takes place from a sixteen year old girl named Katniss Everdeen who her twelve year old sister, Primrose, or "Prim", gets picked to be in the Hunger Games, but she volunteers in her spot immediately and replaces her, and she goes through the journey with her other tribute partner from District 12, Peeta Mellark, the whole way to the Capitol and then the Arena, where the Hunger Games takes place.

"The Hunger Games" is written by author Suzanne Collins, as well as the second and third book to the trilogy series "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay".

The Hunger Games has been made into a movie and released on March 23rd, 2012. The second book, Catching Fire, has also been made into a movie and was released on November 22nd, 2013. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was ranked as the "Best Movie in the World" for two weeks in a row! The third book, Mockingjay, is to be made into two parts/movies. The first part is to supposedly be released on November 21st, 2014, and the second part on November 20th, 2015. Some of the cast includes Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Willow Shields as Prim, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, and Liam Hemsworth as Gale, Katniss's best friend.
