Matched takes place in an orderly society in which everything is perfect. In the society, Officials decides when you will be matched, when and what your job will be, and when you will die. Being "matched" is when you turn seventeen years old and the society chooses you to be with another person, and they become your life-long partner.

 

Here, this story is from a girl, Cassia Reyes, who just turned seventeen and is, like every other seventeen year old, very excited for her match banquet. At the banquet, she gets matched with none other than her life-long best friend, Xander Carrow, which is not much of a surprise to her. But later, she finds a glitch in her matching and sees a different boy’s face on her matching screen. She then has to painstakingly choose for herself, although that is not allowed by the society, and even if the outcome might be rebellious.

 

"Matched" is written by Ally Condie. Its' second book is "Crossed" and its' third and final book is "Reached". What's special about the trilogy is that "Crossed" is written in both Cassia and Ky's point of view, taking turns with each chapter, while "Reached" is written in all three of the main characters point of view, Cassia, Ky's, and Xander.

 

All we know so far about Matched being made into a movie is that Disney and Offspring Entertainment have both gotten the film rights, with Disney having to outbid Paramount for it. Ally Condie has also talked about her fans sending her pictures of their dream cast for Matched which includes Nina Dobrev, from The Vampire Diaries, as Cassia, and Logan Lerman as Ky.
